DOES NOT DISMISS PENALTY AND INTEREST
FORMS OF PAYMENT
All payments must be made in United
States currency. Cash, checks, money orders and cashier’s
checks are acceptable.
Credit card payments can be made in
person or by phone at 1-800-2PAY-TAX (1-800-272-9829)
Jurisdiction code 5313 is required
for payment by telephone.
Credit card or Echeck payments can
be made at www.brazostax.org.
**CREDIT CARD or ECHECK PAYMENTS WILL
BE ASSESSED A SERVICE FEE IN ADDITION TO THE TAX PAYMENT AMOUNT.
DUE DATES:
You have from October 1 of the tax
year to January 31 of the following year to pay the full amount
of your taxes without penalty or interest. Taxes become delinquent
on February 1st. Any unpaid balance will accrue penalty and interest
at the following rates:
February – 7%, March –
9%, April – 11%, May – 13%, June – 15%, July 18%.
1% will be added for each additional
month.
SPLIT PAYMENT OPTION:
If half of the tax amounts are paid
by November 30 of the tax year, the remaining half may be paid without
penalty or interest any time on or before June 30 of the following
year. Payment stubs found on the bottom of the tax statement show
the half payment amounts.
Taxpayers who were 65 YEARS OF AGE
or older on January 1, and have filed an application for exemption
may pay the taxes on their HOMESTEAD in four equal installments.
1 st payment due January 31, 2 nd payment due March 31, 3 rd payment
due May 31, 4 th payment due July 31.
